Mair Therapeutics, a company focused on developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, is specifically targeting Parkinson's disease. They are developing therapies that regulate the lysosomal ion channel TMEM175.
Parkinson Weekend Sept 2023
As part of the Parkinson's weekend Nijmegen and in collaboration with EARA, we welcomed Parkinson's patients, relatives and caregivers to join lectures and a labtour.
Kuijpers will use the 1.5-million-euro grant to study a large intracellular organelle called the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) in nerve cells.
With this research collaboration, Professor Poul Henning Jensen from Dandrite at Aarhus University and partners (co-applicant Marijn Kuijpers) will make a detailed mapping of the early changes that occur in neurons when the disease processes associated with Parkinson's disease slowly accumulate.
